Get involved

Help make something useful.

This works when people with needs, people with tools and people with practical expertise can find one another.

Make

Fabrication

3D printing, CAD, laser cutting, sewing, electronics, assembly, finishing and repair.

Guide

OT / PT / SLP

Help us understand function, positioning, communication, fit and what success actually means.

Collaborate

Fab Labs

Shared equipment, training, build days, expertise and local maker community.

Connect

Schools & organizations

Send us recurring “there has to be a better way” problems from the people you serve.

Volunteer

Tell us what you know how to do.

You do not need a formal credential to be useful. We care about honest skills, safe boundaries and willingness to collaborate.

Volunteer hours are real work.

Access Made Iowa will record actual project and administrative work by date, task and project. No invented hours, no self-certifying a blank timesheet.

Volunteer interest

Fab Labs & maker spaces

We want to work with what already exists.

Access Made Iowa does not need to duplicate a community shop full of specialized equipment. Partnerships can give individual requests access to the right machine and the right person.

Possible collaboration

Accessibility Build Days

Bring several reviewed requests into one maker session and pair them with volunteers who can measure, model, prototype and troubleshoot.

Referral relationships

Schools, clinics, libraries and disability organizations can refer small custom-access problems that do not have an obvious commercial answer.
